today was a little different; a favorite taco place of my carnitas el momo, reopened. i confirmed they'd been open today by checking their instagram feed.
invited a few folks to join me. vaughan showed up. i treated as part of thanks for helping me move.
vaughan couldn't get there until after 12:30, so i did a pseudo reconnaisance of various malls and food places. another place that accepted EBT before does not now: banh mi che cali, which is too bad; with their buy two get one free along with half off on their pho ga, you could actually get by on $180 worth of food stamps a month.
vaughan had a huge soft drink marked 99 cents and i asked him where he got it. he told me circle k, which apparently is the mobil equivalent to arco products. no more mcdonalds for the $1 large drink! circle k rules! and there's one on lake just north of the 210.
more and more people are out and about in defiance of the quarantine. i can only imagine the frustration of those watching the savings dwindle and/or their debts increase.
even though i got a pass from discover, it wasn't free since they merely added the interest to my total, i made a payment this month. will do the same with my BOFA credit card.
those 3 tacos really filled me up; i normally eat only two, but i decided to splurge. after two weeks in my car, i felt i needed it. besides, i still have over $320 left in food stamps. that will easily last me another month and a half. while i won't be eligible in june because of the $1375 limit, if i'm still homeless i should qualify.
it's about time to light a cigar, recharge and head off to work.
