05-25

happy memorial day.
after i recharged i decided to park on the street instead of staying in the carport. i woke up feeling a chill and instead of getting blanket out of the trunk i put my hood up, zipped up and grabbed a towel used to cover the milk crates in back. that did the trick.
woke up around 6:15, went to CA and tapped their wifi until 7, and went looking for a place to park. i tried green south of ralph's for about 45. then headed over to the pasadena central library lot. there's shade in the SW corner until abou 12:30, which happens to be in the third of the lot that is NOT taped off. apparently the building to the north has people still using the lot even though they're not supposed to. i'm not feeling any guilt. there was someone here earlier in a van testing out bicycles stored in the van. he left a while ago.  it's noon. after having spent over $20 on food yesterday, i'm going to try and eat from my supplies in the back seat: bread, peanut butter and honey, a couple of oranges. i'm tempted to go back and recharge since i've already used up 55% of my new battery. it's a holiday; i should be home if i live there. plug in, go get a couple of burgers from mcd's, retrieve my laptop and head over to eaton blanche.
i gave in to my inner glutton and went to burger king for 2 whoppers and 2 8 piece nuggets for 48 & tax. i will probably regret this later... the plan is to read/nap  & top off again betery-wise at the metro before heading off to fedex and makin sure i don't miss my 1:15 call time later tonight.

i already finished reading the baldacci novel but i last night i fired up the external hard drive and downloaded a series of author's books/series to keep me occupied if i want. that's the biggest challenge;  the limited options without the libraries. with a source of electricity/wifi i can occupy  almost all of my free time. maybe this time of enforced withdrawal will help me find more productive uses of this time.
i started a few more biographies on some of the people who come for dinner. i now have entries for (pseudonyms): 'rabbit' 'webster' 'wayne'. once i reach critical mass on one, i'll post i on the BK blog.

I'm staring at the last bag of nuggets from burger king ith a sense of dread. the two whoppers were more than enough and i'll need to go back to the car to refill the polar pop which is now just ice.

finished eating,  napped and the sun prompted a move to the metro to recharge back up to 90%, tapping REI to post, then heading to fedex for a 1:15 call time.
